==Our working definition==

Any form of value that might come back to contributors in an open value network.

Revenue is anything that can represent an ''extrinsic motivation''. Usually, it comes in a form of ''exchange value'', i.e. can be exchanged against something else.

Revenue can also be ''intrinsic motivation'' when a contributor accepts the ''use value'' of a product created somewhere within the Open Value Network.

Crowd-funding campaigns (and the even older CSA model) often pay their contributors with a portion of results of that production.

For example, the consumers of milk might prepay to fund the operation of a dairy simply because they want some milk under their collective control.

Crowd-funding usually compensates contributors with the results of '''one round of production''' and then severs the connection.

In a more advanced form of use-value compensation, the consumers to become real co-owners of the assets required to produce that product.

This causes the consumer to own the product even before it is produced, eliminating the need to purchase that product.

This also compensates each contributors for '''multiple rounds of production''' for as long as they pay their portion of the costs.

An even more advanced form of compensation might be thought of as "cross-contribution" - where the contributor promises to provide a future value needed within the network (say work or property) in return for those who want the value he provides committing to likewise provide value he needs, or to provide value to the target of the initial contributor in return for the initial contributor providing value to them, or even more levels of indirection... (sorry this is so wordy, I need to draw a picture)

For example, someone who wants dental insurance might commit to milking cows for other contributors within the value network.

Even if the dentist does not want milk directly, he will surely want some of the products from other contributors within the network such as from a bread-maker, a brain surgeon, an automotive mechanic, etc.

If there are enough contributors of the products wanted by the dentist who want milk for themselves, then they can agree to work for the dentist in exchange for the milker working for them.

By setting-up these arrangements early, we can assure the future production we need without the need to buy those goods and services using money in the traditional manner (except for the initial purchase of land and tools and other inputs that cannot yet be built within the network).

When combined with consumer-owned assets, this creates a *real* insurance for any good or service we want to guarantee for ourselves while eliminating the purchase of those products and eliminating the payment of wages.

This would theoretically also eliminate sales tax and income tax as explained at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imputed_income
