How to maintain local autonomy while accessing the benefits of larger-scale coordination. Traditional hierarchical systems require bioregions to surrender sovereignty to higher-level authorities, while pure localism cuts them off from external knowledge and resources. Holochain enables a third path: networked autonomy where bioregions maintain sovereignty while participating in larger systems on their own terms.
