Michel Bauwens

Belgian theorist in the emerging field of peer-to-peer (P2P) collaboration, writer, and conference speaker on the subject of technology, culture and business innovation. Bauwens founded the P2P Foundation, a global organization of researchers working in open collaboration in the exploration of peer production, governance, and property.[1] He has authored a number of essays, including his thesis The Political Economy of Peer Production.

Michel Bauwens has influenced a lot the development of the OVN model, through his teachings, as well as a network weaver. Michel met Tibi for for the first time in person at the Contact Con conference in NYC, in 2011, during the Occupy Wall Street protest. Prior to this meeting in person Tibi and Michel were corresponding through email and social media since 2008. Michel visited the Sensorcia Montral lab for the first time in 2013 and participated in the IGC HEC international business contest organized by HEC Montreal, featuring Sensorica as a case study. It was during this time that the term "open" was added to the expression "value network" used by Sensoricans to refer to their organizational and economic model, at the suggestion of Michel Bauwens, during a conversation over breakfest, at a hotel on Sherbrook street where Michel was hosted, with Tibi, Bob and Lynn.
