A process is a coherent set of activities that share the aim of transforming something or that affect other processes that transform someting. Examples are R&D (creating new products) manufacturing (production), office work and administration (supports other processes), etc.

In the NRP-CAS system, a process can take in work (time spent doing something, using skills), use resources (equipment, space, etc.), consume resources (glue, chemicals, wood, etc.) and cite (designs, methods, etc.).
