Lazy Democracy

Lazy democracy is a decision making process that doesn't require quorum. In essence, only those who feel the need to express themselves by voting and do vote are taken into consideration. It is assumed that those who do not vote don't care about the issue at all, no matter what the outcome of the vote will be.

Lazy democracy is essentially a poll about a specific course of action, which takes into consideration the long tail nature of an OVN. In other words, perhaps only the core group will be active enough or care enough about certain matters.

Lazy democracy is part of the Governance of an OVN. Thus, this process interacts with other governance processes such as the principle of individual initiative, redflagging and consensus building

Lazy democracy is practices in conjunction with a consensus building process. Historically, sensoricans have used Loomio to submit important decisions to a public debate. These discussions are shared accros all important communications channels in order to inform and increase participation. The consensus building is a process in which shared understanding is built and compromises are made. The lazy democracy voting process only takes place once a consensus has been reached and its function is mostly to officialize the decision. It makes transparent who has voted for and against and in what pourcentages, which is an important information for future considerations. The voting results are saved / recorded with the discussion that has helped build consensus.
